Rules

Visiting one of our events can be very exciting and a fun experience. It can also sometimes feel daunting, especially if you are visiting for the first time. By following these very simple and humanistic rules, together we can ensure that everyone has the best possible time.
To simplify, our rules mean: Don't be an arsehole!

  1. UNDERSTAND THE DRESSCODE
Rubber Underground has a strict dress code around Latex, Rubber, PVC and Neoprene. If you’re inexperienced, stick to these. Safeguarding our community is paramount; therefore, we may refuse entry to anyone whose outfit does not adhere to this dress code.
  2. GAIN & MAINTAIN CONSENT
"No" means "No"." Maybe" means "No". Consent is at the core of respect, wellbeing and safety. It is not a given and can be withdrawn at any point during an interaction. This includes purposefully touching other people without their explicit permission. If you do not understand why it is a must to ask for explicit permission, prior to any form of human contact, then this space is not for you. Please flag anyone you find in breach of this rule immediately with the Safeguarding Team.
  3. DO NOT INTERRUPT PLAY
Playrooms are not appropriate spaces to begin a conversation, indeed they are spaces for pleasure, after consent has been gained. Public play does not mean that you are entitled to join in. Play space is personal space. Acknowledge people’s personal space and boundaries at all times. Whilst being voyeuristic is a legitimate kink, practising non-consensual self-love while watching, can interrupt other people’s play. If an unwanted person does enter your space persistently call a member of the Team immediately to have them removed.
  4. DO NOT PRESSURE
Aggressive, coercive, disrespectful or manipulative communication of any kind, will not be tolerated. Examples of this type of communication could be as follows: “It will be fun…” “Don’t be boring…” “Aw come on…” (but not limited to). Do not abuse power and do not push others into any form of interaction, or you will be banned.
  5. DO NOT DISCRIMINATE
Discriminatory behaviour includes (and not limited to): Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia, Ageism, Ableism, Kink shaming and any other kind of discrimination based on physical appearance, gender and attributes. Do not be self-entitled. Discriminatory attitudes will not be tolerated ever. If you feel exposed to any form of discriminatory or dismissive behaviour, flag it immediately with the Safeguarding Team during the night.
  6. DRUG FREE ZONE
The Underground Club venue and Rubber Underground operate a zero tolerance to drugs. We do not allow the use of illicit drugs on the premises, anyone found to be using or supplying them will be removed from the club and reported to the police.
  7. DO NOT ABUSE US
We deeply care about your wellbeing and safety, treat us and your community with kindness and respect. We do not tolerate any form of abuse or harassment towards our Staff, Safeguards, and Artists, whether we encounter you in person or digitally. We reserve the right to ban someone from our events for a period of time that we see fit, if anyone is found to be abusive.
  8. NO PHOTOS. NO VIDEOS.
Although phone use is permitted in the social area, they are strictly banned from any of the play spaces. Anyone caught videoing or taking photos will be asked to leave. There will be an official photographer present on the night who will ask your permission to take pictures for our Instagram and twitter accounts. It might seem perfectly harmless to take your own photos in social areas of the event, however you cannot always determine consent and the discretional needs of anyone in the background of any of your personal photos. Our event photographer will make their best effort to gain consent from anyone they take photos of and make their best efforts to blur or remove others from the picture. However, if you find a picture that you wish to be removed please contact us and we will remove it as quickly as we possibly can.
  9. DO REPORT IT
Flag anything that does not feel 100% right by reporting it to the team immediately. When you report something to the team you are helping to safeguard the community around you. Even if you feel you can brush any unwanted interaction off, by flagging it immediately you show solidarity and prevent others from being exposed to such things in the future. Approach the Team and we will always have your back.
  10. RESPECT OTHERS DISCRETION
Everyone has the right to discretion, not everyone attending our events wants their attendance or any information about them shared with others. Do not publish any information relating to the visitors, attendees, staff and/or goings-on at any event without the explicit written consent of Rubber Underground and/or any individual involved.
  11. ACKNOWLEDGE RISKS
Our rules and team aim to treat others in a human manner, with care and respect and thus mitigate risks to create a safer environment. However, all accountability remains with every individual and it needs to be acknowledged that besides all our efforts, risks can still remain.
